We Love Cody Wyoming!
Cody is a great little Wild West town. The Buffalo Bill Center of the West is 5 museums. It is a MUST! The individual museums are Buffalo Bill, Plains Indians, Draper Natural History, Whitney Western Art, and the amazing Firearms Museum. Raptor experience, owls, and hawks is each day at 1 pm. Restaurant on site. Two-day ticket is $23 adult, we spent a total of 8 hours. GREAT VALUE!
Heart Mountain WWII Japanese Internment Camp
It’s not all pretty. The Heart Mountain Interpretive Center allows future generations to experience life of 14,000 Japanese American’s internment because of the bombing of Pearl Harbor and WWII. Along with photographs, artifacts, and interactive exhibits, you can see original barracks that housed six families each and the hospital building. $12 Adult, Group Rates available. 10 am-5pm, days depend on season. We spent 2 ½ hours. From Cody, take ALT-14 North 14 miles to Rd. 19 on the left.
Yellowstone From the East Entrance
It’s a FABULOUS one-hour drive to the East gate! On 9/10 we took off to Yellowstone, early, with new friends, another RV Jeeper couple. From Cody, take WY-14 East, the North Fork Hwy., along the Shoshone River past the Buffalo Bill Reservoir, through the Shoshone Canyon Tunnel. Right there you’ll also cross Buffalo Bill State Park on the reservoir, it’s beautiful and spacious. We crossed over Sylvan Pass, 8,530’ and Grizzly Peak 9,948’, along the North side of Yellowstone Lake. We turned South at Lake Village and hiked to the Natural Bridge (3 miles round trip). After the hike, we headed North to Sulphur Caldron (quick stop) and Mud Canyon to see the gurgling Dragons Mouth.

Buffalo Bill Dam, Reservoir, State Park, and Shoshone Tunnel
The Dam, built 1905-1910, at the time of its completion was the tallest dam in the world at 325 feet. The entire area is an engineering marvel. The reservoir has provided irrigation to the Big Horn region and made it an agriculture asset. Buffalo Bill Cody State Park provides a very wide variety of recreational uses from hunting to camping and boating. The Shoshone Tunnel connecting Cody to Yellowstone National Park is the longest tunnel in Wyoming.
Wild Horses at McCullough Peaks
We had a great day, took our lunches, and went off-road for views and wild horses. We saw lots of horses and lots of Pronghorn Deer. Head East on WY-14 to mile marker 74, you’ll see a little kiosk with maps etc. We drove the entire area viewing the Badlands. The large herd of 32 horses was the highlight at the end of the day. It’s likely you’ll see individual horses here and there. We saw individuals along ridges.

Cody Cattle Company CCC Dinner Show
We had a GREAT time at the Cody Cattle Company Dinner Show! The Chicken and Brisket was very good as were the upside-down beans. The music was even better. I won’t give away all of the secrets but I guarantee you will not be disappointed! Shuttle bus is available from some locations and there’s even some RV Parking if you’re lucky!
