Ouray, CO

6/18-7/18/22 Finally! We’ve been trying to get to Ouray, CO for three years! We made it and we were not disappointed at all! RV Park Ouray Riverside. 5 STARS, absolutely fine. We had a large Riverside spot, walking trail right out the door, one mile to downtown. Ouray is right up our alley. Local hiking trails, Cascade Waterfall, JEEP Trails Galore, shopping and restaurants. We enjoyed Imogene Pass, Yankee Boy Basin (with the help of some new Jeep friends from Texas) and Corkscrew Gulch. There’s a great drive South down the Million Dollar Hwy to Silverton and the Animas Ghost Town. We spent a day to visit Durango and the Durango to Silverton train ride that was fantastic. We were lucky enough to be in town for the 4th of July Parade which was the best parade we’ve been to in many years. Lot’s of firetrucks and flags, fireworks that night over the mountains echoed through the canyons. We spent a day in Telluride shopping, eating and we rode the Gondola to the top for a beautiful view. We also visited Ridgway State Park with it’s great reservoir with bike trails, kayaking, paddle boarding and sailing. There are a few hiking trails and a nice RV Park. Just South of the Park, there is the Dennis Weaver Memorial Park. This small park is near where Dennis Weaver lived. It’s a quiet spiritual memorial with a fantastic Eagle sculpture. All in all, as we planned, this was the highlight of our summer. Guess what?! Yeah, it’s on our re-bucket list! Let’s go!
