Cooks Science Museum

We had a little bit of free time in Decatur Alabama so we searched the “to do” listings and found a great new museum. The Cooks Natural Science Museum has been open about five years and was recently voted the No. 1 Best New Museum in America by USA Today.

Yes! It’s the Lookie Lookie Lookie, Here Comes Cookie, Cooks Pest Control Founders! The museum can be described as state-of-the-art, immersive, hands on and fun! We spent about three hours looking at exhibits of Oceans, Caves, Forests, Space and more. See this map.

You’ll find something for everyone!

There are a few really really cool interactive Space exhibits in the museum. Can you build a planet that will survive in our Solar System? You can grab an 18 lb. meteorite!

You’ll be mesmerized by the fabulous fish in their 15,000 gallon salt water aquarium.

It’s a great place to make new friends with cuddly creatures!

They have the Worlds Largest Chicken Wing on display! Yum!

The Must Knows

Adult tickets are $20, Children under 15 are $15. Discounts are available for Seniors, Military and Groups. The address is 133 4th Ave. NE Decatur, AL 35601. Parking is right at the museum. They have a Deli Style Snack Bar restaurant for your lunch. Of course it’s very inclusive for everyone. The Cook Museum has courtesy wheelchairs, manually operated, see the Guest Services Desk. Open everyday 9-5 except Sundays. www.cookmuseum.org.

Don’t Miss!

Interactive Kinetic Sand Table allows visitors to create moving rivers, volcanoes, and mountains. It’s one of the exhibits every kid wants to get their hands into!

Get out there! Let’s gooooooooo! Richard & Mary
